This image shows the Impluvium where visitors would be received. In the centre is a pool into which rainwater was fed, to be retained in a cistern below. By the pool is the altar for offerings to the house gods or "Lars".
The mosaic area beyond the impluvium is the office. Beyond that are the private areas of the house, and the garden.
