According to the "Rough Guide" this building was named after a wealthy farmer who had it built as a monument to Dante's "Divine Comedy". Its different sections represent Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. Its height in metres (100) is the number of songs and the number of floors (22) is the number of lines in each canoto.
